In July 2019, our lead Instructor Rob McLean and his partner Monica Sheridan began a passage to SVG in their schooner Interlude.  They began by sailing down the St. Lawrence River from their home in Cobourg, Ontario, around the Canadian maritimes, and down the US coast to the Chesapeake.  In December 2019, Rob obtained his Offshore Cruising certification on a passage from the Chesapeake to Nassau.  Rob and Monica sailed as far as Exuma in February 2020, but then the Covid pandemic interrupted their progress. Interlude spent 15 months at a dock in Emerald Bay Marina on Exuma, surviving hurricane Isaias that blew through in July 2020.

Finally, in May 2021, after receiving initial Covid shots, Rob and Monica travelled to Exuma to continue the passage, assisted by Bob Flynn and Martin Kerestes.  We arrived in SVG on June 11, finally completing, a year late, the 7,000 mile passage that began on Lake Ontario.

Here’s a short video from the passage: I’m returning from the bow after having re-secured the anchor:
